SMART HOME MANAGED BY ROBOTS

Robotic science has tremendously changed the world in myriad of ways. Robots are used to provide services such as healthcare services, customer care services and firefighting services. They are also used in industries to control and manage various processes. The robots are designed in such a way they can perform specific tasks with accuracy and precision that cannot be achieved by human beings. Robots are normally designed to mimic human beings in terms of reasoning and functionality. However, they cannot outsmart human memory. They cannot reason out by themselves. Their memories are fed with set of instructions to respond to specific tasks. Have you ever thought of easing your household chores by automating some of them? This is possible due to emergence and widespread usage of robots. We are in the technological world where robots are slowly going to replace house helps. Imagining a situation where at the comfort of your office you can instruct a robot to prepare for you supper in an hour time before your arrival. We are going to discuss in details how we can make good use of robotic science to make work easy for us at home.

Control your house with robotic science

Robots are human like controlled systems that are programmed to perform various tasks per the instructions. They are controlled by computer systems via the user-interface linked to the set programs. They are composed of central processing unit, microcontrollers, high-resolution cameras, several sensors and physical outlook that takes any form that suits the intended function. Central processing unit resembles the human brain. It is the part that harbours the core activities of the developed robot. It receives information and instructions from the user, stores them and responds accordingly. The stored information can be retrieved at anytime depending on how repeatedly the same action is going to be executed. The central processing unit is also capable of sending crucial information to the user on the progress of tasks it has been instructed to perform. Moreover, it can also detect looming threat and process instructions to avert such threat. The central processing unit can also back up information in the cloud for the restoration purposes especially when the memory is corrupted. Central processing unit is made up of microprocessors. Microcontrollers are like body organs in human beings. They control the functions of various parts of the developed robots. They are linked to the central processing unit. They receive instructions from the central processing unit and relay the same information to the various parts of the robot on what should be done. Parts of robots have sensors that function in the same way the human nerves function. They are capable of detecting changes in environment such as rampant increase in temperature and convey the same information to the central processing unit via the microcontroller. These sensors are all over the robots depending on the functions the robots are meant to perform. Human beings have eyes to aid in vision. Similarly, robots are fitted with cameras of high resolution for capturing events occurring within the proximity. The vision of the surroundings are sent to the central process unit for analysis via the microcontroller. The central processing unit can send the images and videos of the surrounding to the user via the global sim for mobile communication (GSM) embedded in the microcontroller.

At home, you are finding it difficult to balance your job and household chores. We are living in an interesting technological world and you have not taken your time to think deeply and realize how technology is at your doorstep to make things easy for you. Outsourcing services of companies that deal in robots can be of help to you. They are capable of developing an intelligent robot for you that will help you in completing some tasks at home. For example, a robot can be designed and programmed to perform all the duties of house helps such as cleaning the house, washing utensils, washing clothes and preparing meals. All these is possible at the comfort of your workplace without necessarily being present. An application developed by the company that has designed the robot, has a friendly user interface for controlling and managing the activities of the robot. You can use the app on your phone to instruct the robot on what to do and even monitor the progress of its action.

The efficiency of the robot in discharging its duties approaches 100%. The efficiency of a machine is the ratio of the work output to the work input expressed as a percentage. Work input is equal to the effort × the distance moved by the effort. Work output is equal to the load × the distance moved by the load. If your robot pulls an object weighing 30 kg at a uniform velocity with a force of 200N covering a distance of 4m along the slope and the object covers a vertical distance of 2m, its efficiency can be calculated as follows:

·         Work output = load × distance moved by the load = (30×10)N × 2m = 600 joules

·         Work input =  effort × the distance moved by the effort = 200N × 4m = 800 joules

·         Efficiency = (600 ÷ 800) × 100 = 75%

Advantages of using robots in performing tasks at home are as follows:

1.      It is convenient as the robot can be instructed to perform duties at any place without your physical manifestation.

2.      It reduces the required work force.

3.      The quality of tasks executed by robots is very high compared to human beings.

4.      Robots can perform many tasks without exhaustion as compared to human beings.

Disadvantages of using robots in performing tasks at home are as follows:

1.      It is expensive to purchase and equip your house with all the necessary support system.

2.      Robots can fail resulting to inconveniences.

The world is rapidly evolving in terms of technology. The earlier you embrace it, the better. Although robotic systems may be marred with some challenges, it is the way to go. As we advance in our new venture, perfection is realized progressively.
