EXCELLING IN ACADEMICS

Studying to excell

Many learners are struggling in their academic life without knowing the right ways of improving their situation. This is not only witnessed in institutions of higher learning but also in primary and secondary schools. No one wants to perform dismally in academics. It is an unavoidable circumstance that keeps them in this awkward environment. Many learners try hard tooth and nail to avert their situation but everything turns against them. Others emerge victorious amidst all these adversities. Academic excellence requires discipline, dedication, hard-work and determination. Only visionary learners pass with flying colours. Resilience sticks them to their visions no matter the storms in their academic journey.

Continuous poor performance impacts learners negatively. This depends on their attitude towards classwork. Smart learners will take it as a challenge and work hard to improve their performance. Weaklings will get discouraged and veer off the track. Changing academic status is influenced by how a learner perceives his or her setbacks. If he or she lacks motivation, then changing everything may turn into a nightmare. A visionary learner knows that failure is just a normal setback that can be turned into good fortunes when there is sufficient will power. Where there is a will, there is a way. Take your time and strategize on ways of changing your performance.

Many learners especially those who are frustrated by academics usually complain that mathematics, physics and chemistry are difficult subjects. This notion drives them crazy to a point that they do not take their classes seriously. When they are in classroom, their attention is diverted to other things. Minimal learning takes place. They do not take their time to complete their assignments appropriately and in time. How will you perform when you do not take your lessons seriously? The only thing you will do is complaining that those subjects are complex and hard to understand. A positive mindset contributes to good performance. It is what fuels a learner to a sterling performance.

Other learners state that social sciences are easy to understand. They appear to be their best subjects. More time is spent learning these subjects as opposed to mathematics. How can you perform when you are studying selectively? The truth is that there is no best or worst subject in academics. It is someone’s mentality that categorizes them in such a manner. If you believe that you can pass in all your lessons then nothing can prevent you from achieving your target.

What makes you perform dismally in your studies is lack of motivation, dedication and determination. It is hopelessness that makes you believe that subjects like mathematics, physics and chemistry are hard. Our brains work in amazing manner. They operate based on how we make them believe. If they are fed with negative and performance derailing information, they will drive us towards poor performance. What you feed your brain with, needs to be carefully selected. Garbage in, garbage out. Changing your performance begins with identifying your weakness and creating a personal timetable to accommodate all subjects. Have a vision and target when studying.

All subjects are equal and easy to understand if we treat them so. If you configure your brain with several negative information about other subjects, then expect poor performance in exams.
